My Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/austinguidry

I couldn't believe our luck in stumbling upon this place - Bipenggou (Bipeng Valley)!! It was an amazing breath of fresh air in the midst of the daily grind of living and working in China.

Clean, fresh air and pure, natural beauty! It was so great to get out of the city and see something new and different!

Taoping Qiang Village | STONE FORTRESS | Sichuan Travel | Hidden Gems

My Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/austinguidry
This was an interesting one! Tim and I went on another trip - this time up into northern Sichuan - the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Region - called A'ba in Chinese. We went there to visit this place - the 桃坪羌寨 - Taoping Qiang Village - a mountain stronghold built to protect against Tibetan invaders (among others). It has a history of over 2,000 years, so it's a real, legitimate, historic, and authentic ancient town / village in China. They're getting harder and harder to find nowadays. Ancient towns and villages are disappearing and being lost to "progress."
After this, we headed up to Bipenggou (Bipeng Valley) - you'll see more in the next video! It's a beautiful place!

Visiting the Bamboo Sea in Yibin, Sichuan | Traveling in China | Hidden ...

My Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/austinguidry
A couple of friends and I visited the Bamboo Sea, a scenic spot just outside of Yibin, Sichuan, China. It's a fairly well-known place here in Sichuan, but not really anywhere else. It's a pretty local spot!
It's A LOT of bamboo all clumped together all over the mountains of Yibin - but it's not just that. There's climbing, hiking, (possibly) ancient temples / places of worship, waterfalls, and more! It's quite a sight to see, and it's not one to miss if you happen to be traveling in this neck of the woods! Sichuan's a pretty awesome place - I really hope you get the chance to visit someday!

Thanks for watching! Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/austinguidry
I talk about the countryside and the city. I quickly mention and discuss some of the good and the bad of both places - the comfort vs the hardship, the beauty and quiet vs the noise, and more! I bike out to a couple of villages just outside of Chengdu on an Ofo and show you guys what there is to see!

This is China: We DON'T NEED PEOPLE at the shops now! Self-service Shops...

It's been incredible to witness the transition of China from a cash-only society to a cashless society within the past couple of years. It's nearly unbelievable! I remember the days of carrying hundreds of RMB in my wallet, but now - I just carry my phone - no cash at all!

Now we have WeChat and Alipay (Zhifubao), and they're used for everything nowadays. I've been made fun of because I've used cash. It's so surreal!

Now we don't even need people at shops now! It's all self serve! Just do it yourself - DIY!

I believe that China is leading the world in this aspect, and what China does with this cashless society will shape the future of money not only in Asia, but in the world. Not only with online payments, but maybe even in cryptocurrency in the not-so-distant future!

Park Built OVERNIGHT in Chengdu | Rapid Construction & Development in Ch...

My Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/austinguidry

I'm showing you all a perfect example of just how rapidly China is changing. It's mind boggling the speed at which China is racing into the next thing. In my little area of Chengdu called Niuwangmiao, there used to be an apartment building, and one day, I came by, and it was boarded up. The next day, the building and rubble was gone. The next day, an entire park was there! I couldn't and still can't get over how fast that park sprang up. The Chengdu metro is another great example. China is never finished!! Things are never done here

Ever Been in a FIGHT in China? Paying Taxes in China? Africans? Old Teac...

My Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/austinguidry

It's a good old fashioned Q&A video! Here are some of the questions I was asked:

Do you meet any old teachers in China?

Is the hiring bias in China (preference to US/UK/Canada) a real thing?

Can non-native English speakers teach in China?

How do you make payments outside of China while you're in China?

When are you coming back to Hainan?

When are you coming to Taiwan?

Would you ever go to Tibet?

and more!

The Hanging Coffins of Gongxian County, Sichuan, China. Most Unique Plac...

The mysterious hanging coffins of China. And not just China at that - Sichuan, China - MY province! I've been in Sichuan for nearly four years, and I only just heard of these recently! The Bo people of what is now Gongxian County, Sichuan died out about 400 years ago, supposedly massacred by Ming imperial troops, leaving behind no written records, no monuments.....except for the hanging coffins.
The hanging coffins just may be the most unique place I've ever visited. It's so far off the beaten path that even the locals asked us, "How did you know about these?" I've never been asked that before! Haha
You'll have to take a bus from Chengdu (Wukuaishi Bus Station) to Gongxian (Gong County), then from Gongxian to Luobiao Village, where the coffins are located.
This is not your "ordinary" classical Chinese history. This is something completely different and unexpected. Come and check it out with us!

Visiting the HANGING COFFINS of Gongxian County, Sichuan, China - Part O...

This is PART 1/2 of my trip to Luobiao Village, Gongxian County, Sichuan, China in order to see the Hanging Coffins of the Bo people. The journey was such that I felt it merited its very own video! We passed through countless tiny towns and villages and wound our way through the Chinese countryside as we got closer and closer to our destination; it would be nine hours before we arrived. Think of that - a full day's travel without even leaving the province!!
